Puccini’s opera tells the tragic love story of Mimì and Rodolphe against the backdrop of the colourful milieu of Parisian artists, students, seamstresses and prostitutes. “I don’t know of anyone who has depicted Paris in this era as well as Puccini in La Bohème,” raved Claude Debussy. The Volksoper will be reviving Harry Kupfer’s spectacular production from the year 1984.
