Important information concerning your visit

We are delighted to be able to welcome you back to the Volksoper! Since your health is our utmost priority, and we wish to assure you of a safe and pleasant visit to our theatre, we have summarized below the answers to all key questions relating to your visit.

The essentials

Personalization

Admission tickets will be personalized at the time of purchase. This means that the names of those attending a performance will be printed on the tickets.

Your sear

In the auditorium, for your safety, one seat will be left empty between different groups so as to ensure the necessary social distance from other audience members. Please go directly to your seat and use only your allocated seat.

Minimum distance

Please always maintain a minimum distance of 1 metre from others.

Face coverings

The wearing of face coverings (over both mouth and nose) is compulsory throughout the Vienna Volksoper building – including in the intermission areas.

Due to official requirements the face covering must also be worn during the performance.

Hygiene

Please sanitize your hands; sanitizing dispensers are available for your use.

Detailed information about your visit

Admission tickets will be personalized at the time of purchase. This means that the names of those attending a performance will be printed on the tickets and we will be required to record the contact details of audience members. This will assist us in accelerating official tracing measures in the event of an outbreak of infection, and in notifying you promptly. You may of course purchase tickets collectively for yourself and those attending a performance with you. When doing so, however, we would ask you please to give the names and contact details (e-mail address, telephone number or postal address) of all those accompanying you.

Please bring an identity document with you to the performance and be ready to show it with your ticket at the theatre entrance.

If the identity of those in your group, as indicated on your tickets, should change, please inform us as soon as possible, so that tickets can be issued in the name of the new ticket-holders. If you have purchased your tickets online, you may change names and print out new tickets yourself – further information may be found at www.culturall.com.

If you have bought your tickets from a booking office, please present your original tickets at one of our booking offices during opening hours. If you are unable to do so, or in the event of a last-minute change, please contact the Volksoper information desk: tel. +43 1 51444-3670, or email: tickets@volksoper.at

For name changes on subscription or series tickets, please contact the subscription department at the Volksoper: tel. +43 1 51444-3678, or email: abonnement@volksoper.at

If individual tickets forming part of a booking are transferred, the new ticket-holder must belong to the same household as the other ticket-holders or have regular contact with this household.

We would ask you to collect your tickets early whenever possible or to take advantage of print@home.

Please only come to the Vienna Volksoper if you do not have any COVID-19 symptoms. Those with relevant symptoms cannot be admitted or will be requested to leave.

Admission to the building and the auditorium will commence one hour before the start of a performance.

For your safety, both the stage and the auditorium will be fully disinfected several times a day using a TÜV-certified high-pressure fogging machine.

Your ticket will be allocated a specific entrance at the Vienna Volksoper (see layout plan). Please only use the entrance shown on your admission ticket and, when entering the building, as well as while inside the Volksoper, follow the colour-coded direction signs. Please bear in mind the checks to be undertaken at the different theatre entrances and ensure that you schedule your arrival early to allow time for these.

The elevator is only available to those with restricted mobility. Due to the very limited capacity available for using this facility, please arrive at least 30 minutes before the start of a performance and make yourself known to our audience services team at the theatre.

The wearing of face coverings (over both mouth and nose) is compulsory throughout the Vienna Volksoper building – including in the intermission areas.

Due to official requirements the face covering must also be worn during the performance.

We would ask you please to bring your own face covering with you to the performance.

Please always maintain a minimum distance of 1 metre from others, particularly at the cloakrooms, in the intermission areas and in the toilets. The audience services team will ensure that the permitted number of persons is not exceeded.

Please do not linger in narrow areas where distancing is difficult.

Please sanitize your hands; sanitizing dispensers are available for your use.

In order to limit the handling of cash, there will be no cloakroom fee.

In the auditorium, for your safety, one seat will be left empty between different groups so as to ensure the necessary social distance from other audience members.

Please go directly to your seat and use only your allocated seat. Moving to a different seat is strictly prohibited.

We strongly encourage our visitors to continue wearing their face coverings for the entire evening. Please put your face covering on during intervals, even if you remain in your seat, since it is likely that other audience members will be walking past your seat, giving rise to closer contact.

For your safety, at the present time, our interval buffets will remain closed.

When applauding, please consider other audience members and follow safety precautions. We recommend that face coverings be worn during the applause.

Please put your face covering back on after the performance and leave the Volksoper using a direct route, observing social distancing rules, through the entrance by which you entered the building. In order to avoid crowding at the cloakrooms and exits, departure from the auditorium may be staggered – please allow a little extra time after the end of a performance.

Some information may be subject to change between the time of booking and your visit to the Volksoper. Please refer to our website - www.volksoper.at – shortly before attending.

We look forward to your visit
