Music brings people together; when we sing together, we forget all our differences and create the most beautiful melodies! On all four Tuesdays in Advent (December 2, 9, 16, and 23), we gather one hour before the evening performance begins to sing Christmas carols, Advent songs, and other contemplative tunes. hat do you need to join us? Nothing at all! Whether you are attending the evening performance and want to sing with us beforehand, or you are coming to the Volksoper solely for the communal singing; whether you sing regularly or rarely have the opportunity—we are delighted to have you with us! The Carol Singing is open to everyone in front of the Volksoper with free admission. You can also enjoy roasted chestnuts and punch, and support our outreach program “We Are All Matilda!” with a voluntary donation.

We all have them at home: unwanted gifts, ill-suited presents, books that have never been read. But perhaps the gift that only causes you headaches might bring joy to someone else? Wrap your unwanted gift—or a small token you’d like to give someone—and bring it with you to the Carol Singing, if you wish. You’ll have the chance to exchange your gift for another one.
