After its great success last season, the tribute to Robert Stolz created by Kurt Lauermann returns to the balcony foyer of the Volksoper. The composer and conductor Robert Stolz (1880–1975) had a lifelong connection with the Volksoper. Even as a young Kapellmeister he stood at the podium here, celebrated successful world premieres, returned again and again as a conductor well into old age, and became the theatre’s first honorary member.
This evening celebrates the life and legacy of this great Austrian cosmopolitan and indomitable musician of world-class stature.
