The Merry Widow premiered at Theater an der Wien at the end of 1905 and thus began its journey to becoming a world triumph.

Hanna and Danilo were a breath of fresh air and became the paragons of the great romantic Hollywood couple. Hanna is a modern and witty woman whose directness doesn’t diminish her elegance. Danilo, meanwhile, is a bon viveur who
spends his days at Maxim’s with neither prospects nor purpose after losing his great love. These two proud characters almost rob each other of a second chance at love through their game of playing hot and cold.
