In the run-up to the Grand Final, the Vienna Volksoper invites audiences to three evenings of large-scale ESC sing-alongs in front of the theatre: on 11 May at 6:30 pm, as well as on 13 and 15 May at 6:00 pm. Admission is free – and everyone is welcome to join in!
Supported by the Volksoper Chorus, audiences are taken on a musical journey through time, celebrating the greatest Eurovision hits of the past seven decades – from the 1950s to the present day. From “Volare” by Domenico Modugno, the timeless “Merci, Chérie” by Udo Jürgens and ABBA’s “Waterloo”, to “Dschinghis Khan”, Johnny Logan’s “Hold Me Now” and many more – surprises guaranteed!
With live hosting and lyrics provided for everyone to follow, all amateur singers, Eurovision enthusiasts and vocal talents are warmly invited to join in with enthusiasm. After all, even more than listening together, it is singing together that brings people closer – especially those who might at first seem very different from ourselves.
Isn’t that precisely what the Eurovision Song Contest is all about, especially this year under the motto “United by Music”? A motto that has long been part of the Volksoper’s DNA: with artists from over 30 nations on and behind the stage, it is the perfect match when the world comes to Vienna to celebrate this unique musical event.
