"Hello! Are you also watching 'West Side Story'? In this video, I'll tell you who is who. We are on the West Side, a part of New York. Here, the Jets and the Sharks fight each other. Two rival street gangs. The leader of the Jets is named Riff. He founded the Jets together with Tony. Meanwhile, Tony wants to start a life away from the gang. That’s why he works at Doc’s drugstore. Bernardo is the leader of the Sharks, who have just immigrated to the USA, just like his sister Maria. She is supposed to marry his best friend Chino, but she is not interested in him at all. Maria works together with Bernardo's girlfriend Anita in a bridal shop. At a dance in the youth club, Tony and Maria meet and fall in love with each other immediately. But, because they belong to different gangs, they are not allowed to be together. Bernardo immediately sends Maria home, but Tony still visits her secretly. After the dance, the Jets and the Sharks hold a war council to finally resolve their conflict. Tony wants to defuse the situation and suggests a fair duel without weapons.
