These words from Wilhelm Busch’s Max und Moritz have become an enduring part of German vocabulary and are typical of this work about the two rascals. Who hasn’t heard of them? Max and Moritz, the pair who get up to all sorts of shenanigans, annoying not only Widow Bolte and Teacher Lämpel, but turning the whole village upside down.
In this amusing and charming ballet version by Ferenc Barbay and Michael Kropf to music by Gioachino Rossini, young and adult audiences alike can immerse themselves in the world of Max and Moritz and their seven naughty tricks: a comic ballet like browsing through an animated and moving comic book.
