Lena Dobija
Lena Dobija was born in Warsaw, Poland, and grew up in Vienna. From 2017 to 2025, she trained at the Ballet Academy of the Vienna State Opera, where she held a merit-based scholarship. She continued her studies with Alice Necsea and attended summer courses at the Royal Ballet Upper School in London as well as at the Opéra national de Paris. In 2020, she was awarded the Fanny Elßler Prize by the Fanny Elßler Society.
She gained her first stage experience in the matinées of the Ballet Academy, where she appeared as Nikiya in La Bayadère after Marius Petipa, in La Sylphide after August Bournonville as well as in Hans van Manen’s Unisono. In Christiana Stefanou’s My First Sleeping Beauty, performed at the NEST in 2025, she embodied the role of Aurora. She also danced in Stefanou’s neoclassical work Prisma. Further appearances included productions of the Vienna State Ballet such as The Nutcracker, Le Corsaire, and A Midsummer Night’s Dream. She additionally took part in opera productions at the Vienna State Opera, including Hansel and Gretel, Falstaff, Nabucco and Carmen.
Immediately after completing her training, Lena Dobija joined the Vienna State Ballet, where she has been a member of the Corps de ballet since the 2025/26 season.
