Florian Etti

Florian Etti studied Languages and Art at the Freie Universität and the Arts College of Berlin and Stage Design with Rolf Glittenberg in Cologne. Since 1986 engagements as a stage designer have led him to the opera houses in Düsseldorf, Essen, Cologne and Zurich, the Schaubühne Berlin, the Burgtheater and Volkstheater in Vienna, and the theaters of Basel, Bochum, Bonn, Bremen, Dortmund, Dresden, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Hannover, Karlsruhe, Cologne, Malmö, Mannheim, Stuttgart and Zurich among others. A close collaboration connects him with the director Burkhard C. Kosminski. He has worked with Gabriele Jacobi, Werner Schroeter, Günter Krämer, Karin Beier, Sönke Wortmann, Anna Badora, Joachim Lux, Gustav Rueb, Georg Kohl, Anna Bergmann and Itay Tiran as well as with the film director and author Udi Aloni. For the choreographer Heinz Spoerli he created the stage design for world premieres at Deutsche Oper am Rhein and Ballett Zurich. For Martin Schläpfer he designed the sets and costumes for the world premieres »Ein Deutsches Requiem«, »7«, »Konzert für Orchester«, »Petite Messe solennelle« and »Schwanensee« among others. Recently, Florian Etti works also in the field of digital painting. In 2019 he presented his works in the solo exhibition »Florian Etti – Artificial Painting« at the Munich Künstlerhaus, followed by an exhibition at the Stuttgart State Theater in 2020. In the same year he premiered Peter Turrini's »Gemeinsam ist Alzheimer schöner« with Alexander Kubelka at the Theater in der Josefstadt in Vienna. Also in 2020 Florian Etti made his Vienna State Opera debut with his stage for Martin Schläpfer‘s world premiere »4«, »Ein Deutsches Requiem« followed in September 2021 at the Volksoper Wien.
