Kristián Pokorný

The Czech Kristián Pokorný received his training from 2010 to 2018 at the Prague Dance Conservatory and from 2018 to 2019 at the Academy of Dance Mannheim. Already during his studies, he was able to gain stage experience with performances at the Prague National Theatre, but also on guest performances in Japan – including leading roles in Jana Kubicová’s »Carmina Burana«, Marius Petipa’s »Paquita« and Jiří Horák’s »Rhapsody in Blue«. In 2018 he became a member of the Badisches Staatsballett Karlsruhe under Birgit Keil and danced in works by Kenneth MacMillan and Christopher Wheeldon. In 2019/20 he danced with the Ballett am Rhein Düsseldorf Duisburg in works by George Balanchine and Martin Schläpfer. Since the 2020/21 season Kristián Pokorný has been a member of the Corps the ballet of the Vienna State Ballet where he danced in world premieres of Martin Schläpfer – such as one of the four princes in his »Sleeping Beauty« –, and Marco Goecke's »Fly Paper Bird«, a young cock in Frederick Ashton's »La Fille mal gardée« as well as in George Balanchine's »Jewels«, Jerome Robbins' »Glass Pieces« and »The Concert«, John Cranko's »Onegin«, Lucinda Childs' »Concerto«, »Elena Tchernichova's »Giselle«, Rudolf Nureyev's »Swan Lake«, Merce Cunningham's »Duets«, Mark Morris' »Beaux«, Ohad Naharin’s »Tabula Rasa« and Pierre Lacotte’s »Coppélia«.
