Alina Bercu

Alina Bercu, born in Campina (Romania) in 1990, studied piano at the Faculty of Music at the Transylvania University in Braşov, with Grigory Gruzman in Weimar, Wolfgang Manz in Nuremberg, and chamber music with Michael Sanderling and Angelika Merkle in Frankfurt. She has also attended master classes headed by Lory Wallfisch, Rudolf Buchbinder, Leslie Howard, Robert Levin, András Schiff, Ana Chumachenco, Wen-Sinn Yang, Werner Bärtschi, Menahem Pressler and Karl-Heinz Kämmerling.

Her concerts have taken her to the Carnegie Hall New York, the concert halls in Zurich, Düsseldorf, Hamburg and Bucharest, the Prinzregententheater Munich and Auditorium Rome. She has worked with orchestras such as the Vienna Philharmonic, the Orchester de Chambre Lausanne, the Mozart Orchestra Hamburg, Limburg Symfonie, the Gulf Coast Symphony Mississippi and the Orchestra Society Zurich.

She was a finalist in the Clara Haskil Competition, has won the 1st Prize and Audience Award at the Steinway & Sons Piano Competition, the Artistic Performances Prize of Romanian Radio, the 1st Prize and Gold Medal at the World Piano Competition Cincinnati, the 2nd Prize at the European Piano Competition in Bremen and the ZF Music Prize.

She has recorded CDs for the Golden Sound Archives of the Romanian Radio Broadcasting Company. Her debut CD with violinist Ilian Garnetz with works by Schubert and Brahms was awarded the Golden Label and Clef d’or.
