Izabela Szylinska

Izabela Szylinska was born in Warsaw, where she graduated from the State Ballet School with distinction as the best graduate of 2008 and with a scholarship from the Ministry of Arts and Culture for her artistic achievements. Her first engagement was with Opera Nova in Bydgoszcz as a Demi-Soloist. Less than a season after, she moved back to her hometown to join Polish National Ballet, where she danced in all classical and contemporary repertory and performed works by Krzysztof Pastor, Alexei Ratmansky, George Balanchine, Wayne Eagling, Jacek Przybyłowicz, Emanuel Gat among others. In 2012, Szylinska moved to New York City to pursue a freelance career. She worked on various projects with a variety of companies and choreographers including Emery LeCrone Dance, Jérôme Bel, Aspen Santa Fe Ballet, MorDance and Julia Gleich Dances. In 2014, she met Karole Armitage and joined her company Armitage Gone! Dance. During her time with AG!D the company performed at prestigious venues such as New York City Center, American History Museum, New York Live Arts and toured to Saratoga Springs, England, France and Italy. She also had an opportunity to assist Armitage during audition processes. In 2017, Szylinska decided to move to Montreal where she spent two seasons with Les Ballets Jazz de Montreal performing works by Barak Marshall, Adonis Foniadakis, Annabelle Lopez Ochoa and Itzik Galili on tours in the US, Canada, China and many countries in Europe. Since 2019 Szylinska has been a dancer with Gauthier Dance where she explores a wide range of repertory including pieces by Mauro Bigonzetti, Sharon Eyal, Eric Gauthier, Ohad Naharin, Hofesh Shechter, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Marie Chouinard and Marco Goecke. In addition to her work as a dancer, she has also become interested in teaching and served as a guest teacher in dance companies and schools in Poland, France and the US.
