Timoor Afshar

Timoor Afshar was born in Indianapolis (USA) and grew up in Fishers, Indiana. He received his first ballet training at the Indiana Ballet Conservatory, as of 2011 he attended The Harid Conservatory. During this time, he took part in several ballet competitions of the Youth America Grand Prix (YAGP) and reached repeatedly the finals. In 2011 he won the Indianapolis Regionals Youth Grand Prix Award. From 2012 to 2016 he completed his education at the John Cranko School. In 2016/17 he joined the Stuttgart Ballet as an apprentice, one season later he became a member of the Corps de ballet of this company. In 2019/20 he was promoted to demi-soloist.
His large repertory includes ballets by Frederick Ashton, Bridget Breiner, Itzik Galili, Maximiliano Guerra, Akram Khan and John Neumeier. He danced solo roles in pieces by George Balanchine, Maurice Béjart, John Cranko, Andreas Heise, Johan Inger, Jiří Kylián, Hans van Manen, Roman Novitzky, Christian Spuck, Demis Volpi as well as, among others, Drosselmeier in Edward Clugʼs The Nutcracker, Prince of the west, Ali Baba and Bluebird in Marcia Haydée's The Sleeping Beauty, Benvolio and carnival dance in John Crankoʼs Romeo and Juliet, Benno in his Swan Lake and Hungarian Officer in Kenneth MacMillan's Mayerling. Fabio Adorisio, Nanine Linning, Roman Novitzky and Martin Schläpfer created roles especially for Timoor Afshar. Edward Clug, Alessandro Giaquinto, Vittoria Girelli, Marco Goecke and Louis Stiens created several parts for this artist.
In the 2023/24 season Timoor Afshar joined the Vienna State Ballet as a soloist where he made his debut in Heinz Spoerliʼs Goldberg-Variationen. This was followed by the role of the Bluebird in Martin Schläpferʼs Sleeping Beauty and Armand Duval in John Neumeierʼs The Lady of the Camellias.
