Céline Janou Weder

The Swiss Céline Janou Weder received her education at the Swiss Academy of Dance in Zurich and the Heinz-Bosl-Stiftung / Ballett-Academy Munich. Furthermore, she gained a certificate of advanced study in Health and Performance in 2020 at the University in Bern and is currently doing a Master Study in Dance Science. Her first contract has been in 2003 at the Junior Ballet in Zurich under the direction of Heinz Spoerli, in 2005 she changed to the Theater Basel under the direction of Richard Wherlock. Since 2008 she is a member of the Vienna State Ballet. Her most important roles comprise Hertha Strugg and Angel in Natalia Horecna’s »Contra Clockwise Witness«, Madame D’Ora in Antony McDonald’s und Ashley Page’s »Ein Reigen«, arctic fox in Michael Corder’s »Die Schneekönigin«, Anitra in Edward Clug’s »Peer Gynt«, a resolute lady in Jerome Robbins’ »The Concert« and works by Frederick Ashton, George Balanchine, John Cranko, Kenneth MacMillan, Rudolf Nureyev as well as Sol León’s & Paul Lightfoot’s »Skew-Whiff«, Thierry Malandain’s »Mozart à 2«, Jiří Kylián’s »Sechs Tänze«, Stephans Thoss’ »Blaubarts Geheimnis«, András Lukács’s »Movements to Stravinsky«, Vladimir Malakhov’s »La Bayadère«, Peter Wright’s »Sleeping Beauty« and Elena Tchernischova‘s »Giselle«.
