Kentaro Mitsumori

The Japanese Kentaro Mitsumori trained at a private ballet school in Japan and at the John Cranko School in Stuttgart. In 2017, he joined the Royal Swedish Ballet, where he was promoted to First Soloist in 2021 and to Principal Dancer in 2022. Beginning with the 2025/26 season, Kentaro Mitsumori will join the Vienna State Ballet as a Principal Dancer.

His repertoire includes leading roles in Sir Kenneth MacMillan’s Manon and Romeo and Juliet, Rudolf Nureyev’s Swan Lake and Don Quixote, Tamara Rojo’s Cinderella, José Martinez’s Le Corsaire, Pär Isberg’s The Nutcracker, Marcia Haydée’s Sleeping Beauty, and Natalia Makarova’s Giselle. He has also performed in works by George Balanchine, Jean-Guillaume Bart, Maurice Béjart, Mats Ek, Alexander Ekman, William Forsythe, Serge Lifar, Wayne McGregor, Ohad Naharin, Jerome Robbins and Christopher Wheeldon, among others.

His awards include first prize and the “Best Dancer” award at the All Japan Ballet Competition (2013), the Gallodier Award (2021) and the Mariane Orlando Scholarship (2023).
