Composer Martina Eisenreich awarded the German Television Award

We congratulate the composer of our new fairy-tale operetta Aschenbrödels Traum (Aschenbrödel's Dream), which will premiere at the Volksoper in November, on receiving this prestigious award!

Telling stories through music – that is taken for granted in musical theatre, but music also gives film and television their special atmosphere. It adds depth to characters and strikes the right tone for the action. Composer Martina Eisenreich has just been awarded the 2025 German Television Award in the category “Best Fiction Music” – for the ARD film Herrhausen – Der Herr des Geldes. The jury praised her composition, in which “weighty orchestral sounds built around a leitmotif by Henry Purcell” meet “lighter pieces featuring the quintessential instrument of the 1980s – the synthesizer.”

Eisenreich emphasizes that for this project she was already involved in the screenplay development – something not very common in film. In musical theatre, however, it certainly is: For Aschenbrödels Traum (Aschenbrödel’s Dream), a new fairy-tale operetta that continues Johann Strauss’s Aschenbrödel ballet, she likewise worked closely with author and director Axel Ranisch right from the start. Together they created a strong bond between text and music, which we are very much looking forward to – the score for this world premiere has already arrived at the Volksoper and promises a fascinating and entertaining musical experience.

We warmly congratulate Martina Eisenreich on this award – and are all the more excited about the world premiere of  Aschenbrödels Traum (Aschenbrödel’s Dream) at the Volksoper!
