We’re leaving for Summer Break – and we hope you are, too!

In July and August, our ensemble swaps center-stage for the cool comfort of the shower – crooning under cold water instead of our spotlights. Even our sets and props stage a great escape, slinking off to chill in dark, frosty storage. We hope you’ll trade your favorite plush velvet seat in the stalls for a deckchair of your own. (Just be quick to snag one at the beach or pool – our ushers won’t be on hand to escort you until September!) And someone else will be serving your cold drinks – our buffet is on holiday, too. Ah, the downsides of a summer sabbatical! But before you despair over missing the Volksoper for two whole months, look forward instead to reuniting with us in September – grab your tickets now and beat the holiday rush.

What’s on in Autumn?

Everything your music-loving heart could wish for: we kick off the new season with Mozart’s magical The Magic Flute, invite you to join our Fledermaus Sing-Along, and bring back favorites like West Side Story, Carmen, and Lass uns die Welt vergessen – Volksoper 1938.
 
Hot tip: Our sneak-preview of Killing Carmen at the Donauinselfest Pre-Opening on June 19 was a smash hit – audiences roared for dream-team Nils Strunk, Lukas Schrenk & Gabriel Cazes and the brilliant cast of Katia Ledoux, Anton Zetterholm, Stefan Cerny, Julia Edtmeier & Florian Carove. Missed it? Tickets for our October run have been flying off the shelf like fresh pretzels on a summer morning – so don’t delay!
