Season 2026/27

Dear Audience,

The only thing stronger than hate is love. And what could we need more urgently in times like these?

Our premieres in the coming season also revolve around love: love between friends, romantic love, and sometimes even disappointed love.

Preview of the 2026/27 Season

Around 300 times each season, it’s “curtain up!”: in the 2026/27 season, you can look forward to ten premieres, two revivals, fifteen repertoire works, and numerous special performances. And yet, in a way, there are actually 300,000 performances—because each audience member experiences the evening in their own unique way, living through individual emotions. At the same time, we are never alone in the auditorium, but part of a shared, vibrant moment. This special experience exists only in the theatre. We hope that in the coming season, you will once again laugh, cry—and above all, love with us.

Season 2026/27

In Ronja Räubertochter, a new music theatre experience for the whole family, friendship, courage, and the power of nature take center stage, while the second world premiere, Zur heißen Zitrone, celebrates—with Austropop hits—the devotion of allotment gardeners to their plots.

In the repertoire classics Così fan tutte and Der Opernball, several couples are each subjected to a test of fidelity. Die sieben Todsünden / Gianni Schicchi, combined in a double bill, portray the family as a haven of hypocrisy, selfishness, and exploitation.

In the musical Chicago, the pursuit of fame, glamour, and self-love shapes the protagonists. In Hello, Dolly!, the second Broadway hit of the season, love is instead viewed in a cheerful and optimistic light.

The opera studio explores ten very different pairings in Reigen, and duets also take center stage in the ballet premiere Masterpieces for Two. Carmen Suite, the second premiere of the Vienna State Ballet, is dedicated to a protagonist for whom the love of freedom stands above all else.
